Decorating and dressing for Halloween times can give one license to get a little kooky/spooky. But sometimes you end up falling in love with the things so much you keep them in rotation year-round.
For example, I still wear vintage skirts and accessories that I purchased for costumes. And I still have X-rays taped to my kitchen window after putting them up for a seance-themed party just because they look weird and I like weird. I found a few items that work for the season, but could totally become part of your everyday wear and decor with a little imagination.
Put out this black and orange typewriter at your Halloween party and let people type up short ghost stories. Keep it around to write your grocery lists and so forth.
Scare trick-or-treaters with this scythe and then use it on your mantle in a vignette that tells guests that you’re pretty cool.
Sinister cufflinks on all wrists now and always.
Swap the black candles on November 1 because this candelabra is a year-round keeper.
One of the best things about fall is getting to cozy up with layers and wear tights. I love tights 4 E. I also love capes and own several. Here are some that caught my eye as I browsed for a new one to add to my collection. Click the photos to view the listings.
I am not usually a purple fan, but this color is like woah.
I love that you can dress this one up or keep it casual.
Hey ’80s!
Two more after the jump.
It’s time for another round of Etsy Roulette. You can play at home — just plug a word in the search box on Etsy (or any e-commerce site) and see what pops up in the results. Today I entered “cat” and the results were pretty great and sometimes a little creepy. Click the photo to view the listing.
Three more after the jump.
I’ve long been a fan of Emily Henderson’s style — ex. here. And now it’s even easier to bite her style as she is hosting a sale over on One Kings Lane. If I had the means, I’d buy all of the things!
I love a good throw pillow. Swapping pillows is such an easy way to change up a room — adding textures, colors, patterns, shapes, etc. And one of my comfort quirks is hugging a pillow while reading a book on the couch. I am definitely on the hunt for pillows this weekend at TVB’s pop-up at Renegade. I found three vendors that had pillows in their shops. You bet I’ll be making a beeline for their TVB booths.
One more after the jump. (Psst it’s perfect for cat moms and dads!)
We’re days away from TVB’s pop-up at Renegade Craft Fair! Did you know that you can preview the goods on Krrb.com? Our friends and partners at Krrb set up some of our vendors with “corners” to showcase their wares before the event. But, really anyone can use Krrb to sell secondhand — it’s like a souped-up Craiglist.
Onward to some sneak peeks!

Most folks celebrate Labor Day with a good ol’ BBQ with friends and family. I wanted to share a few cute vintage BBQ-related items and give you a hosting tip! Last year Katherine had a German-themed grilling party and handed out steins to all the guests that they could take home. Totally cute “green” idea as you’re not filling the world with even more SOLO red cups, but even better is that you don’t have to wash each one at the end of the night. You should totally steal the idea if you’re hosting a grill sesh this long weekend.
Like who wouldn’t love the chance to take home one of these pretty steins?
Or wear this LOL apron?
Make sure your guests are happy and use these adorable meat temp markers.

I am in the mood to totally change the look of my whole house. So, I am design blogging it up and online “shopping” for style inspiration and such. And guys, I just discovered Oak Park Antiques’ corner full of amazing rugs! I am a little rug crazy right now and oh how I wish I had thousands to spend on a rug!
I love Smilebooth. Really, I love any photo booth because it’s nothing but silly fun. I treasure all my photo booth strips. Here are some real good ones from last Sunday’s TVB.
SOMEONE BROUGHT THEIR CAT ON A LEASH!
