Check out Krispy Fringe at The Vintage Bazaar this weekend, Sunday, July 8 from 12pm-5pm!
How do you incorporate vintage pieces into your own personal style?
Vintage decor should be a natural extension to the space. Never feeling forced, it should definitely represent you. A bit of kitsch is great if it conveys your sense of humor, but if that isn’t you, then don’t do it. The great thing with vintage is that you will find those items that will resonate and bring you pleasure whenever you’re around them. Vintage apparel is so easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. We love to mix time periods as well as vintage and new.
What do you look for in a great vintage piece?
When on the hunt, I look for the items that makes me pause and take a second look. I’m also a relentless with editing – especially apparel. I ask myself the following question; would I want it? If I don’t love it enough to want it for myself then I’m not likely to buy it for the shop.
What’s inspiring you right now (trends, eras, styles, books, movies, other shops, etc.)?
Classic TV is getting my attention again these days. The sets, while typically simple, were packed great style and the wardrobes were always up to date. I love these frozen moments in time. Some of my faves? You can’t go wrong with two from the early ’70s CBS line up – Mary Tyler Moore and The Bob Newhart show.
Tell us about some of the stuff you’ll be bringing to the upcoming market.
This market you’ll see lots of necklaces, handbags, shoes, as well as some select summer apparel. Wall decor, glassware, some pre war Japanese biscuit jars and a fabulous wicker peacock chair are just a taste of what we’re going to have on hand.
