In the late 19th century, Georg Hirth started Die Jugend a weekly magazine supporting the German arts and crafts movement. The magazine featured art, literature, paintings, drawings, etc. by emerging artists. The style of Hirth and the Die Jugend editors was so distinct that it spawned the German art nouveau movement Jugenstil. There is even an entire website dedicated to the history of the magazine. You must check it out: click here.
